From The Editor

For organizations striving to improve operational and bottom line performance, EnPower is a high performance consulting firm that uses proven processes and methods to help achieve and maintain results.

Welcome to the second quarter edition of the IFRS Zeitgeist for 2010.

We are nearly through the first half of 2010. How are your IFRS goals going?
Have you: read an article or a book, watched a webinar, taken a course, or attended a workshop? Most of the times when I meet a fellow accountant I ask the question; what are you doing to learn IFRS? There are more that are saying that they’re learning, but clearly not enough.

IFRS comes into effect on January 1st 2011 for publicly accountable enterprises, and for Private Enterprises that choose IFRS over Private Enterprise GAAP. I know most of us are busy; however we still have to learn it, and attain our learning points as accountants. Why not do both at once; learn IFRS and earn the learning points.

I decided early in the year that I’d do both, plus work with some of the foremost IFRS trainers in Canada, Mike Morley and Karine Benzacar. In fact, both of them present regular seminars highlighted in the events section below. Personally; I’m continuing to update my IFRS skills and knowledge. Have a great summer.
