Retirement is Just a Fuzzy Concept

..until one of These Transition Triggers
Crystallizes Your Thinking
Prasoon Srivastava, Investment Advisor, TD Waterhouse Canada Inc.

Dear friend,

“We’d been ‘toying’ with planning our retirement for years but when our youngest family member left home, it suddenly became real.
Real,but confusing.
Prasoon helped us sort through the options and lose the panic.
Now we can hardly wait.”

Managing Wealth! Is it that all there is to it, that simple?
Doesn’t it seem that anyone who can change a 20 dollar bill is out to help you “manage your wealth”? Most of them think that retirement is the same for everyone and all it takes is money. We know different.

Here is what I have discovered- “Retirement is just a vague concept for someday until a “trigger” makes it real for us”  Until then, it’s a someday thing”. Maybe even for “someone else”. All of a sudden, retirement is on the radar.

It’s your second life. It can be rewarding or it can be punishing. It all depends on how you prepare for the transition.

7 Transition Triggers – Making Retirement a Reality!

  • Your youngest child finally moves out for good……..really
  • You pay the last University or College tuition you ever have to pay
  • You pay for your last child’s wedding
  • You get the last promotion you think you will ever get
  • One of your parents dies
  • One of your spouse’s parents needs long-term facility care
  • Your closest friend dies of “natural causes”

Financial Planners, Investment Advisors, Wealth Managers, Financial Advisors and StockBrokers – A world of retirement assistance!

Here are the people to really turn to for real world advice about what retirement means, how to prepare for it so that life does not stop when the last pay cheque comes in. For you it will be just the beginning of a new life, a new world …………

Really, who even talks about preparing for retirement? It’s all about the money to most of the money folks. But it is not. It is about the people. It is about you and your needs. It always has been and always will be. It is your retirement, what your dreams are and what you want to do during that very interesting period in your life taking advantage of the wisdom that you have accrued over the years.

The way I see it, unless you get a good grip on the personal and emotional issues around retirement and your life as a whole and what it means to be really living both before and during that “ripe” period in your life, then money is meaningless. If you don’t understand what matters most in life, you will never be able to prepare properly for the future.

In today’s world, I see a great deal of “planning”. Sometimes even ”comprehensive financial planning”  but very little real “preparation”. Until now!

  • Things that make sense for you. Not me but YOU.

Planning and Retirement - It’s all about you!

I have recognized this important strategy discussed above, and changed my business to adapt to the real life needs of the people who entrust me with their retirement planning.

And it’s not just making as much cash as possible. There is way more to it. Like making the most of your cash when you have to live on it and finding the extras you always need to support the new life after retirement. Hey the kids grow up but they never really go away, so how does that fit into our longer term strategy for example. I keep these types of scenarios in mind, so that I can help you think broadly when reviewing your retirement transition planning.

My “Purpose Based” Retirement preparation process considers all the options that matter to individuals like you, to make your retirement dreams a reality. All of this so we can focus on just one thing, that we get enough time. Trouble is, “time’s a wasting”.

As they say,” If you wanted shade, the best time to plant an oak tree was 30 years ago. The best time is now.”  So, if you are tired of “same old same old” approaches to retirement planning and want a new approach, or if you are ready for “Pre-retirement Counsel” from someone who will be right there with you, we have to talk. That means you have to call me.

I look forward to getting to know and sharing this exciting vision for your future with you.

P.S. Let’s face it. You will able to tell in two minutes if I am the guy to help you. The time you have to invest is minimal, but the “return” will be amazing if we have a vision match.
